Starting this Sunday, 12th August 2018, my debut novella, Not Every Room Has a View, is being serially published in five parts on subculture, lifestyle, art and fashion publication, Noctis Magazine.
To give you a little taste of what it’s all about, here’s a quick synopsis, or a bit of blurb, for you to feast your eyes on…
Samuel Jacks floats through his existence, venting a deep lament for his hometown to no one but himself, looking after his poorly Aunty Mags, puffing endless piles of roll-ups, and making token efforts to scribe a novel that he’s probably never going to start, let alone finish.
One day, his dull existence is knocked sideways when an old adolescent flame, Daisy, returns to his estate, turfing up buried emotions and unlocking piles of unwanted baggage.
Upon reconnecting with Daisy, Sam’s life begins to unravel at an alarming rate, sending him on a journey that will force him to face his most haunting of fears.
Part thriller, part social commentary, and part offbeat misadventure, this subversive tale of everything, and nothing, includes encounters with a sinister postman, ham factory mishaps, burning yet mysterious romances, seedy pubs, secret ales societies, otherworldly radio DJs, one big hazy climax, and the general obscenities of a confused, mind bent young man in an unforgiving world – get ready for a bizarre and unsettling ride.
If this sounds interesting to you – or if you’re at least curious – head on over to Noctis Magazine from midday next Sunday and dive into the weird, wonderful (well, I mean that loosely) world of Samuel Jacks.
