A literary interlude: The Ant Eater by Roald Dahl

When it comes to darkly brilliant prose that appeals to both children and adults, it takes a lot to beat Roald Dahl.

When I was a young lad my Granddad would read me Roald Dahl stories including The Witches, James and the Giant Peach, The Twits, The BFG and many more. Reading them again as an adult, I have come to realise that these tales are fresher than they ever were and my appreciation for Dahl’s writing is stronger than ever.

So this Monday morning, my literary interlude comes in the form of The Ant Eater; one of Dahl’s cheekiest poems:
